Doctoral Student

Ripsa Rani Nayak

Ripsa completed her M.Tech. in Nanomaterials and Nanotechnology from NIT Kurukshetra in 2022. Her master’s thesis work was focused on the green synthesis of semiconducting ZnSe-based nanomaterials by using organic wastes/plant extracts for environmental applications and dye degradation. She is currently doing a Ph.D. under the supervision of Dr. Navneet Gupta on the functionalization of cellulosic biomass-derived oxygenates.

Besides, she enjoys painting (winner of karmakar during graduation and fine art in postgraduation), hiking, and traveling. She is also in numismatics.

Postdoctoral Fellow

Dr. Omvir Singh

Omvir Singh received his doctoral degree from the CSIR-Indian Institute of Petroleum in 2022. His research focuses on converting unconventional feedstocks into value-added chemicals using heterogeneous catalysts for next-generation of sustainable processes. Converting biomass/non-edible feedstocks into drop-in chemicals is highly demanding as they can be used without any modification of existing industrial setups. During his research, he synthesized various mesoporous unconventional nanomaterials and characterized them using advanced spectroscopic techniques like XRD, BET, TEM, SEM, etc. He has published more than 10 scientific research articles and 2 US patents during his research. In his current work, he focuses on the catalytic production of drop-in chemicals.

He is a recipient of various awards and fellowships, including junior/senior research fellowships and BRICS young scientist in 2022.
